Water Cube Overview

A comprehensive guide to the Water Cube, one of Beijing's most iconic modern aquatic venues.

The Water Cube, officially known as the National Aquatics Center, is a large aquatic facility located in the Olympic Green in Beijing. It was designed for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and served as the venue for swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming events.

The building's unique bubble-like design, inspired by the structure of soap bubbles, was created by a team of architects led by PTW Architects. It has a capacity of 17,000 spectators and has become one of Beijing's most recognizable landmarks. After the Olympics, it was transformed into a water park and entertainment center.

The Water Cube is not only a symbol of the 2008 Olympics but also a testament to innovative design and sustainable architecture. Its distinctive blue exterior and cutting-edge technology attract millions of visitors each year.
